Visitando los oasis egipcios// Visiting Egyptian´s oases

Los oasis se encuentran en el Desierto Occidental, una imponente extensión que ocupa más de la mitad del territorio del país, bordeada por el Nilo y el Mediterraneo hasta las fronteras sudanesas y libanesas. Esta región desértica y aislada posee 5 oasis donde brotan fuentes de agua que alimentan la vegetación y que en otros tiempos fueron indispensables para las caravanas que cruzaban esta zona en su recorrido por el norte de Africa.
 The oases are located in the Western Desert, a giant region occupying more than half of the country´s territory, bordered by the Nile river and the Mediterranean Ocean to Sudan and Libya. This region has 5 isolated oasis with spring water sources that feed the vegetation that once were indispensable to the caravans which crossed the area on their way from the north of Africa.

Los oasis están conectados por rutas pavimentadas que se pueden recorrer en bus o taxis compartidos. Claro que el viaje se hace lento pero en compensación obtenemos experiencias inolvidables.
 The oases are connected by paved roads where you can travel by bus or shared taxis. Of course, the trip will be slow, but in compensation you will face unforgettables experiences.

La manera más rápida de recorrer esta región es en tour organizado, en los cuales hay que tener suerte para que todo salga bien, PERO la verdadera experiencia es hacerlo por nuestra cuenta :)
Así que recomiendo conseguirse una guía (herramienta indispensable para todo viajero independiente) con información de transporte y alojamiento en esta región además de ropa recatada tanto para mujeres como para hombres. En estas zonas del mundo mujeres y hombres no muestran los brazos ni las piernas (para saber más hacer click aquí)
 The fastest way to explore this region is by organized tour, where you will be lucky to get everything right, BUT the real experience is to do it on your own trip :)
So I recommend to achieve a guidebook (indispensable tool for every independent traveller) with transport and accommodation information in this region as well as modest clothing for both women and men. In these areas of the world men and women don´t show arms or legs (for details click here)

En los oasis  encontramos las huellas de las civilizaciones que han recorrido y vividos en las distintas épocas desde tiempos inmemoriales, como tambien los paisajes y fuentes naturales de agua.
 In the oases we find traces of the civilizations that have come and lived at different times of the history , as also beautiful landscapes and natural water springs.

Villa Olímpica de Pekín//Beijing´s Olimpic Village

En China, si se tiene algo de tiempo es interesante visitar la Villa Olímpica de Pekín. Todos sabemos de que se trata,  fue el lugar donde tuvieron lugar los Juegos Olímpicos de Pekín 2008. La zona está compuesta por impresionantes estadios y curiosas edificaciones que, aúnque estos juegos ya son historia, aún mantienen "la magia". Nosotros la visitamos de día pero dicen que de noche es aún mejor porque las construcciones se iluminan de una forma especial.
 In China, if you have time, it is interesting to visit the Olympic Village in Beijing. We all know that means: the place where occurred the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The area is composed of impressive stadiums and curious buildings that even these games occurred a time ago, still they have "the magic". We visited it in the open day but they say that at night is even better because the buildings are illuminated in a special way.

Se puede llegar facilmente en metro: Olympic Sports Center, línea 8. Cobran entrada para entrar al complejo. Además si queremos visitar los edificios por dentro hay que pagar un ticket extra, lo cual vale la pena solamente para los muy fanáticos de los deportes. Por fuera son mucho más interesantes.
 You can reach it easily by subway: Olympic Sports Center, line 8. Charge admission to enter the complex. Also, if we want to visit the inside the buildings you have to pay an extra ticket, which is worth only for very sports fans. On the outside they are much more interesting.

Dentro del estadio, llamado Nido de Pájaro por su forma tan especial, está (¡aún!) la tienda de recuerdos abierta al público y además un pequeño museo de cera donde podemos reconocer varias celebridades del deporte.
 Inside the stadium, called the Bird's Nest for its special shape, is (still today!) the gift/souvenirs shop open to the public and also a small wax museum where we can recognize several sports celebrities

Ópera china// Chinese Opera

La Ópera china, junto con el Teatro Griego y la antigua Ópera de la India son las tres artes escénicas más antiguas del mundo. Por supuesto estas difieren mucho con la ópera occidental contemporanea.
En China la ópera tradicional es muy apreciada y se puede asistir a una función en muchas ciudades. En Beijing y otras ciudades se promocionan en los hoteles paquetes que te llevan hasta el teatro incluyendo la entrada (por lo general tienes un asiento asignado con los demás occidentales que vayan ese día, aparte de la audiencia china, que son muchos) que no es nada caro además de tener la comodidad de que ellos te compran la entrada, te llevan al teatro y te devuelven al hotel.
 Chinese Opera, along with the ancient Greek Theatre and the Opera of India are the three oldest scenic arts in the world. Of course they vary greatly with our contemporary Western opera.
In China the traditional opera is very appreciated and can we attend a function in many cities. In Beijing and other cities are promoted on packages in the hotels: they take you to the theatre and include the entrance (usually we have an assigned seat with the other Westerners, apart from the Chinese audience, which are many) that is not expensive and moreover we have the comfort that they will buy the entrance to the theatre and they will take you back to the hotel after it.

Esta ópera es un arte muy antiguo que mantiene la forma y además proviene de una cultura muy distinta a la nuestra. Todo esto la hace bastante incomprensible para nosotros: hablan en verso y de una manera muy especial, con muy poco diálogo. Los personajes están asignados estrictamente y se distinguen por su maquillaje o trajes. Las historias cuentan sucesos de emperadores, relatos belicos e históricos. Las acciones, o sea, lo que sucede en la obra, se representan con sutiles movimientos del cuerpo por parte de los actores. Los instrumentos de percusión proveen un acompañamiento rítmico a la actuación. A pesar de todo esto es igual muy disfrutable (por lo menos una vez en la vida ja ja)
 This opera is an ancient art that retains its shape and also comes from a very different culture to us. All this makes it quite incomprehensible to us: they speak in verse and in a very special way, with very little dialogue. The characters are assigned strictly and are distinguished by their makeup or costumes. Stories tell emperors events, warlike and historical stories. Actions, I mean, what happens in the play, are represented with subtle body movements by the actors. Percussion instruments provide rhythmic accompaniment to the acting. Despite all of this is just very enjoyable (at least once in life ha ha)

 A mi me gustó mucho ya que es una oportunidad única de asistir a una representación artística tan antigua. Es también una manera de conocer un poco más sobre la cultura china.
 I liked it a lot because it is an opportunity unique to attend an artistic representation so old as this. It is also a way to learn more about Chinese culture.
