The first time I dared to ride a camel was in the Rajasthan desert, in my first Indian trip. I chose the shorter option: an afternoon "safari". Of course the only thing interesting about this safari is the experience of riding a camel itself even being a safari not have much, or rather nothing. They take you by van to the entrance of the desert and there you meet the camels and the guide. The tour never goes far away from the main road. Although the dunes don´t allow us to see the road for a time and we can imagine that we are very brave going into the secrets of the desert mounted on one of the strangest animals and guided by a true Bedouin who grips our camel by a rope and periodically repeats "good?" "Happy?" English words used to see if we're fine.

Esperando a la orilla de la ruta /Waiting at the edge of the road.

It's pretty uncomfortable, but the saddle makes it acceptable. The worst thing for me was going up and down. You sit when the animal is down. Its stand up first with the hind legs (leaving you in a position of vertigo) and then it stand up the front legs making you feel you are in a Roller Coaster.

The second time was in the Sinai Peninsula, in Egypt. Again I opted for an afternoon stroll. This time my camel was not in a good mood and the guide was trying to calm it all the tour. Was like that at any moment it will run away with me on it. The guide was not very friendly either.

¡Toda una experiencia! All an experience!

Again the safari consisted of about 3 kilometres away from the route. This time we stopped to rest in a fake Bedouin encampment. And again to ride up and to get down from the camel. I think so many ups and downs convinced me that this was the last time for me.For me was more than enough :)
