Olinda, declarado Patrimonio Histórico y Cultural de la Humanidad es un pueblito colonial de retorcidas callejuelas y casas pintadas de vivos colores muy bien conservado del estado de Pernambuco, al norte del país. Su carnaval es muy famoso y se festeja en las calles, gratuitamente (clik aquí)
Olinda, Historical and Cultural Heritage of Humanity is a well-preserved colonial town of twisted streets and brightly painted houses in the state of Pernambuco, in the north of the country. His carnival is very famous and celebrated in the streets for free ( clik here )
Está situada a solamente 6 kilómetros de Recife, la capital del estado, lo que permite quedarse en una y visitar la otra muy facilmente en bus o taxi. En carnaval los taxi suben las tarifas considerablemente pero hay a disposición lineas de autobús especiales para esos días. Yo me alojé la semana previa a carnaval en Olinda pero después me mudé a Recife porque los precios de los alojamientos suben de manera extravagante.
It is located only 6 kilometers from Recife, the state of the capital, allowing us to stay in one and visit the other one very easily by bus or taxi. In carnival the taxi fares go up considerably but there is a special bus route available for those days. I stayed the week before Carnival in Olinda but then I moved to Recife because prices of accommodations become very expensives.

En sus iglesias destacan los azulejos portugueses pintados. ¡Muy interesantes!
In the churches there are painted Portuguese tiles. Very interesting!
Olinda es un lugar muy apacible con muchas manifestaciones culturales y museos. Destacan los "Bonecos" (muñecos) símbolo de su carnaval.
Olinda is a very peaceful place with many cultural events and museums. Highlights are the "Bonecos" (dolls) symbol of its carnival.
Un par de cosas negativas:
- no hay muchas opciones para comer barato a la noche.
A couple of negatives things:
- Not many options for cheap dinner.
Uno de los pocos, o tal vez el único, lugar para cenar una hamburguesa y un jugo a un precio económico, frente a la plaza principal//One of the few, perhaps the only, place to dine a burger and a juice in an affordable price, in front of the main square.
- la playa no es apta para baños por causa del agua contaminada y la arena sucia. Muchas "pousadas" (hostels/posadas en portugués) tienen piscina y esto no las hace más caras si te alojas fuera de los días de carnaval.
- The beach is not suitable for swimming because of contaminated water and dirty sand. Many "pousadas" (hostels / inns in Portuguese) has a pool and this don´t makes them more expensive if you stay away from the carnival days.
