Mi primer experiencia con un sari (My first experience with a saree)

 El sari es una prenda femenina tradicional de la India. También se usa en Bangladesh,Sri Lanka, Bhutan y Nepal. Consiste en una pieza de tela de 6 a 9 metros de largo que se envuelve alrededor del cuerpo. Hay varias formas de usarlo, las cuales tienen sus respectivos nombres. El estilo más común en la India es el estilo NIVI que es el que yo he usado.
  The sari is a traditional female garment in India. It is also used in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan. It consists of a piece of fabric from 6 to 9 meters long wrapped around the body. There are several ways to wear it. Each of them have their respective names. The most common style in India is the Nivi style which is what I am wearing.

Vestir un sari no es nada fácil y requiere de mucha práctica. No sólo para envolverlo alrededor del cuerpo de forma elegante sino también para moverse y caminar.
En YOUTUBE hay varios videos que enseñan a usarlo.
Por debajo del sari se usa una blusa muy corta y justa llamada CHOLI o BLOUSE. El nombre más común es BLOUSE, como en inglés.
 Wearing a sari is not easy and requires lots of practice. Not only for wrapping it around the body but also for getting an elegant way of moving and walk.
In YOUTUBE there are some videos teaching how to wear it.
Underneath the sari they wear a a very short blouse called Choli or BLOUSE. The most common name is BLOUSE, like in English.

La parte de atrás de la blusa es la más importante porque es la parte que se ve más y adquiere protagonismo. Suele estar decorada con dibujos y bordados.
 The back of the blouse is the most important because it is the part that we can see more. It is usually decorated with drawings and embroidery.

La parte frontal de la blusa queda semicubierta con el sari.
 The front of the blouse is partially covered with the sari.

Por debajo del sari se usa también un viso largo que va desde la cintura hasta los tobillos. ¡Importante!: la moda es usarlo por debajo del ombligo así éste queda al descubierto  :)

Underneath they also wear a long petticoat from the waist to the ankles.Important! : the fashion is to wear it under the navel :)

En mi primer experiencia no me ha quedado perfecto y caminar no fue nada fácil :)

 In my first experience I was not able to wrap it in a perfect way and the walking was not easy :)

La pieza de tela que cuelga en la espalda se llama PALLU y se puede usar para cubrir el cabello. En las aldeas las recien casadas se cubren todo el cabello frente a las personas mayores de la familia y para salir fuera de la casa como señal de respeto.  Ésta es la principal razón de usar el PALLU sobre la cabeza, como símbolo de respeto. En las ciudades por lo general las mujeres de la India no usan siempre este simbolismo y  se las ve en la calle con la cabeza descubierta. De todos modos las recien casadas se cubren toda la cabeza frente a los mayores pero después de un tiempo no usan tan estrictamente esta regla en las ciudades y se cubren sólo parte de la misma mostrando la parte frontal del cabello. Pero en la calle la mayoría no se cubre el cabello y usan el pallu cayendo en la espalda. Algunas se cubren para protegerse del sol y el polvo. Claro que para para entrar al templo todas se cubren aunque esto no es obligatorio en la India.

 The piece of cloth hanging on the back is called PALLU and can be used for covering the hair. In the villages the newly married women cover all the hair when they meet their old family members and when they go out of the house too, as a sign of respect. This is the main reason for using the PALLU on the head: sign of respect. In the cities, usually the Indian women do not always use this symbolism and we can seen them on the streets with their heads uncovered. Anyway, all the newly married cover the entire head showing respect when they are with the elder members of the family but after a while they don´t do this so strictly and they wear the PALLU covering only a portion of the hair leaving the front of it uncovered. But on the street most are not covering their hair and wear the PALLU falling at the back. Some of them cover themselves for protecting from sun and dust too. But, of course, most of the women cover the hair when they enter to a temple even this is not compulsory in India.

Mi sari es de un tipo especial de Plumetí bordado y fue un regalo muy especial :)
